Poxetil (Paxil) is the first selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) to be approved for use in the treatment of depression and other mental health disorders. It’s a medication that works by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain. SSRIs work by reducing the amount of serotonin in the brain.
Unlike other antidepressants, Poxetil has fewer side effects than other antidepressants and is generally well-tolerated. However, it may cause a number of side effects, including weight gain, dizziness, headaches, and drowsiness. Poxetil should be taken with food to minimize these effects.
Because Poxetil is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), it’s important to take it at the same time each day. This means it can take 1 to 2 weeks to feel the full effects of the medication.
It’s important to note that Poxetil should not be used during pregnancy. Poxetil is a controlled substance and should not be taken by women with a history of drug or alcohol abuse or dependence.

A new study has shown that a drug used in children and teens can lead to cognitive impairment, although there’s still debate as to what causes it.
The drug was tested in mice and rats to determine its impact on a group of children with a condition called social anxiety disorder.
While the drug was not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for use in children, it was approved for use in the pediatric population in 2002.
In the drug study, researchers found that the drug was effective for a group of 10 children, who were in the early stages of development of a condition known as social anxiety disorder.
The study also found that the drug was effective in children with a genetic disorder called hypomania, in which anxiety is thought to be a part of the body.
In the study, participants were randomly assigned to receive either placebo or Paxil (paroxetine) and took it for three weeks. They received one week of Paxil (paroxetine), a drug used to treat depression, for three weeks.
It was also found that Paxil improved anxiety, but not in the people who were given the drug.
This led to the researchers noting that this study was not designed to answer any specific questions.
The researchers also found that Paxil could cause cognitive impairment in children and teens who took the drug, but not in a group of those who did not take it.
“We know that the effect of this drug is not that different from what has been found in children and teens taking other medications,” said lead author Dr. Amy Goldstein of the University of Minnesota.
Goldstein noted that it would take time for the drug to be fully absorbed into the body and is not likely to be effective.
“It is still unclear how much of this drug could actually cause cognitive impairment in children and teens with a genetic disorder,” she added.
This research was supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and the Children’s Drug and Food Administration.
